KELLENBERGER

KELLENBERGER is a company specialized in developing and producing high precision cylindrical grinding machines. Their products are designed for medium and high technology use.

The KELLENBERGER cylindrical grinding machines are based on both hydraulic and numerical control technologies and are adaptable to the clients’ needs.

In 1919, the company displayed the grinding at the machine exhibition in Basel, Switzerland. In 1945, the first hydraulic Universal Grinding Machine was presented to the public. Under Edgar Kellenberger’s direction, the company specialized in the production of universal cylindrical and tool and cutter grinding machines.

The Numerical Control System was developed in 1980 along with Grossenbacher, a Swiss Electronics manufacturer, exhibited in 1981, and first put into practice in 1984. In 1995, the company inaugurated the KELVARIA grinding machine in collaboration with Hardinge.

  • A very compact machine design, it has, as with most Kellenberger models a coolant tray separated from the machine base, integrated transport system and swivelling upper table for minimal external influences.
  • The swivelling workhead is suitable for grinding both between centre and chucking work and thermally optimised bearings guarantee the highest roundness and dimensional accuracy.

  • KEL-VARIA CNC precision cylindrical grinding machines have been developed using intensive application studies and state-of-the-art technology in development and production.
  • The result is a universal system of modular construction able to satisfy the highest demand for quality. Hydrostatic guideways and a strict separation of the machine base from the assemblies generating heat or vibration, provide superb precision and productivity.
  • The excellent static and dynamic rigidity of the machine base permits a three-point set-up. The machine therefore has no particular requirements on the building’s foundations.
  • The hydrostatic guides for the longitudinal slide movement (Z-axis) and for wheelslide infeed (X-axis) provide the basis for the machine’s extreme accuracy.
